Sing a song. Win the thing.

About ThingSong

ThingSong is a free singing contest app. People give away things they don't need, like a refrigerator or a road bike, and others sing for them. Judges and the audience pick who takes each one home.

How it works

  1. Someone gives a thing away. They post something they don't need anymore, with photos and a short video, and ThingSong runs a contest for it.
  2. People sing for it. Each singer records a short original song in the app. It's free to enter.
  3. Judges and the audience decide. Judges score every performance, and everyone can vote for a favorite.
  4. The winner picks it up. They book a pickup time and collect it from the giver.

How winners are picked

Each contest's winner is decided by a published mix of judges' scores (vocals, performance and creativity) and audience votes. The exact weighting, deadlines, pickup terms and eligibility are in each contest's official rules. No purchase is necessary to enter or win.

Who can take part

Anyone can watch. Entering, voting and giving something away take an account, which is for adults who live in the US. For now, things are given away in San Diego County, with more cities to come. Our child safety standards say how we keep ThingSong safe.

Where performances appear

Approved performances are shown in the ThingSong app and may be shared on the ThingSong YouTube channel. Contestants agree to this when they enter.
